It was Saturday, tombola night at the club, and Mike had been persuaded to go by Nann and Roger. The run to Manoel Island was one of joy and laughter, with both Roger and Grace trying to explain what they got up to in the canoe, without going into too much detail. But Mike and Nann sat in the back seat just holding hands knew exactly what they were on about, and just smiled to each other.
The tombola went very well, both Nann and Mike won £30 each, and when the money was given to them, they handed it over to Roger to put into Nann's post office account. Grace was very lucky, she won the last house, winning £60, Mike looked at Nann and said. "Now your mother can get that skirt she needs for the canoe." "I could," Grace said. "But this money will be put away until needed in December, it will, however, go towards a new dress." After the game, they all sat around the table, the club room was almost empty, and Roger went to the bar to get some more drinks. When he got back to the table and had sat in his seat, he looked at Nann and Mike. "Right you two," he said. "I understand you want to get married before we leave Malta, and you Maureen want to stay out here as Michael's wife, correct." Roger took a drink from his glass. "Grace bless her, has convinced me, that you will both be ok, and after seeing the way you are with each other, I tend to agree. Michael obviously loves you Maureen, and we feel very confident that we can leave you two to look after each other and yourselves. However, I want you, Maureen, to promise us, you won't give up your N.A.A.F.I. job, Michael's pay is not that good, and without you both working you will struggle." Nann went round the table to her father and gave him a hug. "Thank you, daddy, we won't let you down, we promise." Mike looked across the table at Roger and Grace. "Thank you chief, and you Grace," Mike said. "I'll look after her, and I should be rated up to able seaman in June, so that will boost my money." Then Mike went quiet. All we have to do now." Mike said. "Is convince my parents." "Already done," Grace said. Mike looked at her. "How come." "Because dear boy I have been writing to your mum, telling them that you have almost set up home together, all be it at my flat and that for the past few months, you have been sleeping together, and living together almost as husband and wife. I even told them that Maureen does all your washing and ironing, she cooks you meals when we are at the mess, or at a party. The last letter we got back was yesterday, and that said they were very happy, but also said that Michael knew the consequences of any pain caused." Roger and Grace looked at Mike enquiringly, Mike took a drink. "It's something mother and father said last year, the four of you were not only workmates, but also very good friends, and if I got Maureen pregnant, then both my parents as they said would drag me kicking and screaming up the aisle to marry the girl." They all laughed, then Nann stopped. "Hang on a minute," she said. "Would you need to be dragged kicking and screaming up the aisle to marry me?" "Don't be daft love," Mike said. "You're the love of my life, you are my life, in fact, if it had happened like that, I would have been in the church waiting for you." Nann learned in and kissed him. "And I love you too."
The ride back to the flat was all talk of the wedding and sorting out dates for the big day, and where the Palmer's could live once married. As Roger parked the car they were still trying to work out a date for the big day. "Can we go in," Roger said. "I'm tired." "Yes, and I know why," Grace said, she then got a fit of the giggles. In the flat Grace asked everyone if they wanted a hot drink, but they all declined, Nann grabbed Mike's hand and lead him to the bedroom saying goodnight, see you in the morning. Mike went to use the bathroom, and once back in the bedroom her climbed into bed, Nann was in her nighty, and nipped to the bathroom herself, once back, she snuggled into Mike, as she did so, she realised he was sleeping in the altogether, so taking off her nightdress and just leaving her panties on she put her hands out and touched him."Mmm that's nice." then turning onto her side so that their bottoms were touching they both fell asleep
Mike woke up to the sound of knocking. "Come in," he said, Grace came into the room with two cups of tea. "Hello son," she said. "Sleep well." "Not bad," Mike said. Nann began to wake, looking at her mum she said. Hello mummy, did you sleep ok?" "Not bad," Grace said. "Though I think your father was dreaming about being in the canoe, all night long he kept lifting my nightdress and saying how much he liked the new skirt. Anyway, no hurry for breakfast, it's help yourself day, but dinner will be at one." Mike looked at his watch it was just past 8, Nann said. "Give me half an hour and I'll do us some toast." "Right," Grace said. "I had better get back to your father, see you both later." Nann snuggled into Mike and they kissed, then as Mike went to grab for his tea, Nann held him, she smiled at him and they kissed again, as they did so Mike played with Nann's bust making her moan loudly into his mouth, she let him play for as long as she could, but her bust was still tender. "Please Michael sweetheart, please stop I can't take any more." She kissed his mouth hard, their teeth meshed together, then looking into his eyes she said. "I need you so much, I'm going crazy." then she slid out of bed, put on her dressing gown and headed out the door. Nann didn't come back for some time, Mike lay, his head on the pillow daydreaming when Nann walked back into the room, in her hand a plate of toast and marmalade. Nann put the plate on the cabinet and slid back into bed with Mike, resting her head on his chest she gave a long drawn out sigh. "What's the problem," Mike asked. Nann looked up into his eyes. "I hate this time of the month," she said. "It's bloody uncomfortable and I can't do the things I want to do." A slight smile came to her lips. "But then, neither can you." "Oh well," Mike said. "Maybe its good to have a rest from that sort of thing." Nann grabbed a handful of Mike's chest hair and pulled it, but it was soft and slid through her fingers, looking at him she asked. "Have you gone off me?" Mike picked up Nann's eight stone body, he held her above his own body at arm's length, then slowly lowered her down on top of him, as their lips met, Nann gave a whimpered cry, but Mike was in full control of the situation, and as her body lay on top of his own, he kissed her, then in almost a whisper said. "Making love my darling is not the be all and end all of a relationship, its the love that is important, the understanding and the fact, that you and I have over a long time talked, discussed and battled hard to get what we want, so that now, at this moment in time, we have a solid foundation for a happy married life.
Nann lifted her head and again looked into Mike's eyes, what she saw in them was truth, he believed what he had just said, and to make this relationship work, she needed to believe it too. "Your right," she said. "Sex isn't everything, it's only the middle of the love story, its the love and devotion that holds two people together. It's the respect and dedication that they put into the relationship that counts." She kissed him and climbed off of his body, with her feet on the floor she said. Come on, I need a shower, and you need a shave."
In the bathroom Nann was in the shower singing to herself, Mike listened, she had a sweet voice, he didn't hear every word, but that didn't matter, she was happy again. As Mike started to shave, he could see Nann in the bathroom mirror, she was stepping out of the shower with a large fluffy towel wrapped around her beautiful body, she was drying her bust, so watching Nann he was not paying attention to what he was doing, he felt the sharp pain, then looking into the mirror saw the blood. "That dammed mole again," he said. "I'm forever slicing the top off with the razer." Mike carried on shaving, then splashing water onto his face, he dried his face with the towel. Going to the toilet and grabbing a sheet of toilet paper he tore a little piece off and placed it over the cut. Nann was now stood behind him, her arms around his waist. What have you done love." she asked. "It's that bloody mole on my face, I've nicked it with the razer." Nann went to the bathroom cabinet and after a quick rummage around, came back to Mike with a small tube. "Here you go, use this, it will stop the bleeding, and does not look so unsightly as a piece of loo roll stuck to your face." Mike used the stick, it did sting at first, but it also stopped the bleeding and for Mike, that was the important thing.
Back in the bedroom Mike and Nann were trying to get dressed, but they were also skylarking around at the same time, so there was a lot of laughing and giggling going on than actual dressing. There was a knock at the door and Grace looked in, to see her two favourite teenagers fully dressed, Mike sat on the dressing table stool with Nann across his knee in fits of giggles. "Come on you two, its ten o clock, the kettle is on for coffee. Nann sank to her knees looking at her mother, she still had a huge smile on her face. "Ok mummy, we're coming." Mike helped Nann to her feet, and they followed Grace into the lounge.
